I was born in India and lived most of my life in a once sleepy town called Bangalore (now Bengaluru) until I went to Michigan where I studied Economics. At the end of my sophomore year I discovered the magic of cinema in a class called “The Art of Film.” Deciding to double major, I immersed myself in the theory and practice of filmmaking.
Inspired by the Czech New Wave and filmmakers like Miloš Forman, Jan Švankmajer and Jiří Menzel, I went to Prague as a Cinematographer for NYU’s 35mm summer film program. After graduating I moved to New York City where I worked for Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group as a Web Strategist for their comics and animation company.
Two years in New York and the financial crisis made me move to Mumbai in November 2008 to spend some time working on media and social change projects for emerging markets. I’m currently working as a production associate at a prominent studio in Bollywood to assist in the story development and production of Bollywood features and indie films. In my free time you can find me playing golf, doing yoga, or trying some kalaripayattu.
Creative Chasm is a set of digital clippings of my discoveries on the Internet and life—mostly the arts, design, technology, media & entertainment, sports, geopolitics, and cultural & globalization trends.
You can also check out In Pursuit of Mumbai, a mobile blog of my adventures in Mumbai since moving from New York. Finally, as you can see from the right, I’m very active on the Internet so drop me a line!
